A broken camera

Prior to my departure for India I bought a RICOH GR II. I wanted something light and easy that could fit in my pocket. I wanted restrictions, a fixed lens, having to get close to the subject, something that could allow me to break my fear of getting involved and expose myself as a photographer but that could, at the same time, be non threatening for the subject.

Two days after I landed the camera broke. It died literally. No malfunctions, just simply dead.

A photographer with a broken camera.
But still a photographer.

I just couldn't stand that we seem to be defined and limited by the tools we use rather than what we are and what we experience as humans.

Does a camera make a photographer?

With this question in mind I gathered what I had left, pen and paper and an iPhone 5 with a blurry lens.

These pictures are the result of that process.
